We arrived at Cestus III on schedule and beamed down to the planet for our meeting with local officials. There were some strange happenings on the way to the government building. We picked up several rather strange life-form readings in the chambers where we were to have our meeting. Readings of a human/Klingon hybrid of some kind were detected, however when we entered the room none of these other lifeforms were present. We conducted our meeting rather quickly, only drawing slight opposition from the Gorn, CMDR. Zorak. The other Gorn that was present, Brakk was silent through the whole exchange. Governor Gari also stated they would be in agreeance with the establishment of an outpost but required the proposed blueprint to review before giving a final blessing.

This seems to have progressed well, however I am cautious of how easily it was to persuade both sides to allow a federation outpost. There is an err of something mischievous and devious going on behind the scenes. We must be cautious not to get caught in something we are not prepared for.

Today at 1500 hours, myself and the senior staff met on Holodeck 2 to celebrate the old earth holiday of St. Patrick’s Day. We set the holodeck to simulate my domestic residence on earth. I took the liberties to prepare a feast of baked Guinness Corned Beef, roasted Cabbage, potatoes and carrots, Irish Soda bread and there were many sweet dessert cookies.

We spent the day and well into the evening reminiscing about past missions, talking of old and new friendships, and relaxing in comfort. An excellent time was had by all and it was a well needed break from the sometimes demanding and stressful day to day life on a Starship.

I believe we shall make this a yearly tradition on the Narragansett.

Fleet Captain’s Log

Stardate 95806.72

We are about 2 days from the Cestus System. We are heading to the planet Cestus III to meet with local officials to establish a federation outpost on the planet. The last outpost to be on the planet was destroyed by the Gorn in 2267, the Gorn still claimed it as part of their territory.

The nature of a diplomatic mission should be relatively easy. However this mission and the current status of Gorn and Klingon in the region troubles me slightly. The Klingons have been rather restless and aggressive lately and Command is unsure of their intentions. The Gorn, even though they succeeded control of Cestus III, has a stake and possible say in what goes on the planet as there are currently 7.2 million Gorn on the planet.

We must be cautious and aware of every faction that will be watching us.
